How Long Do You Broil Ribeye Steaks, What's Your Personal Preference?

Whether you dine in the privacy of your own home or choose the finest restaurant in town, the big deal with steak is how you like yours cooked.  The process of broiling in the kitchen range, whether gas or electric, seems to have lost some of its popularity now that we have the indoor gas grills but it is still possible to produce a fine steak cooked to order with only the very basic appliances.

How long do you broil ribeye steaks may very well be the main question on your mind as this is on your menu for tonight.  It is important that you have a good concept of the preparation that should be completed prior to the actual cooking.

The ribeye cut is ideal for broiling, grilling or pan-broiling as all of these are  methods of dry-heat.  This particular steak can be found either in the boneless or bone-in selection.  In answering the question of how long to broil ribeye steaks, there doesn't appear to be any difference in the time with either one, the difference seems to be in the extra flavor to be had with the bone-in cut.  It seems that during the cooking process, the fat seems to cling to the bone and produce a more moist product in the end.

The broiler should be pre-heated approximately 15-20 minutes and the meat should be at room temperature.  One note to keep in mind, if the meat has been frozen, there might be additional moisture on the surface. This should be wiped away with a paper towel before cooking. 

With the electric range, position the oven rack approximately 6 inches below the broiling element, begin the pre-heating by placing a cast iron skillet on the rack as this will serve as your broiling surface as opposed to the broiler rack. 

How long do you broil ribeye steaks that are 1" thick for the rare order?  Searing time will be 3 minutes on each side.  Turn the oven to 500 degrees and add 1 minute.  The searing process will seal in the natural juices of the meat and produce a delicious steak for your enjoyment.
